Boston Terrier BRITISH UTILITY BREEDS ASSOCIATION 2015

Many thanks to the exhibitors for a wonderful entry of 117. I feel that the quality of bitches outshone that of the males. Mainly I found this to be the case in heads with quite a number of males a shade to heavy and course. Temperament was excellent apart from one that I hoped was caused by the sheer noise from within the hall. Presentation was excellent and I feel that Boston's being true Bostons will always continue to exasperate the very best of handlers.

Many have written over the past year on problems that they feel are creeping into the breed, I do just wonder when was the last time many consulted the standard re the correct foot, and that really could become problem of tomorrow.

Good quarters front and rear excells in bone and feet. Well bodied with nice muscle. Moved with drive. Markings from one side do not do his balance justice.

2/ MR G MCCALLUM - BURLESK A HORSE WITH NO NAME (AI) Liked this 2 year old very much, shade finer than winner but correctly made. Loved the head that I find to be all male, with excellent eye and ear shape that are beautiful set all giving a true Boston expression. Good shoulders, front topline, rump and hindquarters. OPEN D Entries: 8 Absentees 1

Strong class. 1/ MR J & MRS S BROWN CH YAKEE THIS IS IT Gave him the Res C.C when I judged him as a youngster at Crufts, and I'm pleased that he's retained all the wonderful attributes that I liked about him all that time ago. Square in head correct in eye, ear that are so well shaped and set, all giving a lovely expression without any sign of coarseness. Nice arched neck, good topline held at all times. Like his shoulders front and feet, Hindquarters angulated and muscled.

In side profile he gives a most true impression of squareness that should give to all a true indication of what the Boston standard calls for. Pleased to award him the C.C but in the final challenge for B.O.B he just lacked that extra sparkle in movement of the Bitch.

2/ MR W J & MRS A CONNOR - RINGABLOK DIAMOND GEM This 3 year old bears the same qualities as the winner, and what I have said of him applies to this younger boy likewise. He put up quite a fight for the top spot, and to me he's a true Boston both in head and body without any sign of coarseness or exaggeration. Res C.C.

Loved the head good eye ears of correct shape and well set all making her a most feminine appearance. Correct for balance throughout ample neck good topline and rump. Nice shoulder placement good front excellent bone, and nicely angulated hindquarters, well muscled. Moves very well but now needs to give just a little more in showmanship to command top spot.

2/MISS S GRACE - ROSPARQUIER MAKE BELIEVE AT ESANGEE Excellent showgirl for one so young. Balanced head and body, good topline and like winner held at all times. Good front assembly nice for bone and feet. Again well angulated hindquarters but in movement just lacked the trueness of winner.

3/MR D & MISS A CUND - CHELMBULL CHRISTMAS JOY

JUNIOR B Entries: 6 Absentees 1

The first two I found very hard to separate, and both owners I hope understand that they will change position many times. Both are quality and on todays showing should, I feel, reach the top.

1st MISS KNIGHTS - YAKEE LET IT BE ME FOR HAVANCE Feminine in head and expression, correct eye good ear shape that are nicely set. Liked her front construction nice for bone with excellent feet. Overall balance good topline well muscled hindquarters. Good movement from all angles and very much a showgirl at all times.

2nd MRS H MATHIAS-LOWE - MATHIO QUEEN BEE Loved this lady for she is so well balanced throughout. Like winner excellent in head and expression flat skull correct eye, ears that are nicely set and so feminine in expression. Nice front and rear construction moved with purpose and ease. Ample neck great outline from any angle and handled with great consideration and care.

YEARLING B Entries: 5 Absentees 0

1/ MRS V SCHFAILD - VICKVALLY MY DEAR HEART JW Pretty feminine head with excellent expression. Nice balance throughout. Good shoulders placement good front and correct feet. Moved well but when standing the handler does tend to let her fall away a shade

2/ MR A & MR P EASDON & MARTIN - YAKEE FIRST IMPRESSION Liked this plainer lady very much. Excellent overall balance with good front and rear angulation. Ample neck excellent topline, nice rump. While she moves straight I would just like a shade more freedom in movement and a shade more sparkle to get her on her toes when standing.

3/ MS V S AVENT - RIDGEWAY REVELATION AT SUENO

POST GRAD B Entries: 6 Absentees 1

1/ MR P & MR I CONWAY & CHAPMAN - NORCAIRN PRIM N PROPER Nice balance of head correct in eye and ears with alert expression. Correct in neck good topline moving and standing. Good shoulders, good straight front. Hindquarters well muscled and giving good drive with ease in movement. Presented in very firm condition.

2/ MRS P & MR J SCIPIO & LIGHTFOOT - TARAVON SASSY LASSIE Much to like about this lady. Moves with a nice effortless ease. Would like a shade more neck to balance her out overall, and she does not quite have the ear set of winner. Good topline front and feet along with nice angulated hindquarters.

3/ MRS J, MISSES O & D MITCHELL WILDAX SECRET SURPRISE AT BEEBEEMI

LIMIT B Entries: 8 Absentees 2

1/ MISS L & MRS L DEARN - KEZNEL A LITTLE DROP OF HONEY AT ROXXILU JW Very feminine in every aspect. Lovely headpiece and expression. Nice dark, round eyes and ear placement Moved with freedom and total effortless ease and held her topline at all times. Good shoulders and front. Hindquarters well muscled with good angulation. When fully mature this bitch will take a lot of beating.

2/ MRS V TANNER - LAROUSSE HELLEBORE AT TANVER Most pleasing in head and expression with super eye and ears that are so nicely set. Loved the squareness super topline, excellent shoulders good hindquarters. Pushed winner and while she scored on depth of body she just lost out on freedom and ease of winners movement.

3/ MR & MRS M HOUNSLOW - RIDGEWAY ROYAL RUMPUS

OPEN B Entries: 11 Absentees 2

1/ MISS K & MRS P JEFFERSON SMITH - LOVEWELL MIS UNDERSTOOD JW. Three year old that has now fully matured, and capable, I consider, of holding her own in any company and has now become, I understand, a most worthy champion of the breed. So feminine without any sign of coarseness. Square head flat skull correct eye and ear shape that are well set, with all giving that most wonderful Boston expression. Looking at her in side profile I considered her balanced throughout and this she holds both standing and on the move, without a hint of over angulation or falling away. Good shoulders, front assembly, hindquarters and feet. Good muscle tone. Presented in excellent condition I was pleased to award her the C.C and Best of Breed

2/ MRS I K & MRS D CORRIN & COSTELLO - CH EAIRYCOR CELTIC PRINCESS JW All of the above applies to this exhibit who simply put up one hell of fight for the class. I loved them both and it was so so close, and in the end I just felt that the winner was in, what I would say, was her best condition of the year

3 MRS M KANE - YAKEE ANGEL OF HARLEM
