The Welsh Corgi League Northern Section 5th Feb.

My thanks to the committee for asking me to replace Carol Saxton, who I hope is now feeling a lot better. Also my thanks to the exhibitors for supporting myself Looking back at a 1972 catalogue for the Midlands Welsh Corgi CLUB open show it drew and entry of 160 Pems a class average of nine, to day we have class average of 2. One needs to ask are present class average numbers providing judging and breeder education with any benefit. Could this also be part of the reason for the decline in quality of so many breeds. Vet D. 3 (2) 1. RES. B. D. Maddock Ch Blazer aerial High Flyer at Sonia Quito shcm. 7 Year old presented in excellent condition. Balanced head nice eye, body balanced without any sign of being course in neck or shoulder, good topline correct tail set, and rear angulation nice muscle tone. Excellent rear movement and in side profile covered the ground with ease. 2. Hogg Cristalunas Apache Spirit of Keltybrae 7 year old and like winner presented in excellent condition. Nice overall balance Good bone and tight feet. Alert expression with nice eyes and ears. Just lacked the freedom of winners movement. Min Puppy D 2 (1) 1. Alexander & Davies Ermyn Knight of the Realm 7 mth pleasing head, eyes, ears all giving pleasing expression. Neck fits correctly into body, good shoulders. Need to firm in topline correct tail set and rear angulation. At this stage lacking a tad in body balance but this could alter with age. Jun D. 2. Hogarth Whitebarn Sea Odyssey correct for size, with correct body shape, good shoulders topline, would prefer better tailset. Head pleasing nice expression. Felt he had the edge in body condition and front movement today. 2. Maddock Redfordhill Magic Moments to Salvenik This well up to size fellow I felt his lack of condition made him look a shade unbalanced, once one took coat out other the equation. Liked his overall head balance and showmanship. Correct in topline, tailset, and rear angulation, good bone tight feet. While he had the edge over winner in rear movement, I found him today a shade close in front movement. Yearling D 2 1/ Harrison Haresfoot Zebedee NBT. Nice overall balance in excellent condition. Good topline tailset, bone and feet Well angulated quarters nice mussel tone. Head while balanced I felt it was a shade over done. Good body shape and shoulders. Front movement OK but rear lacks a shade in drive. 2/ R.M. Moments to S. Grad D. 3. 1/ H Zebedee. 2/ R M Moments to S 3/ Stewart Blazerae Royal Extreme. P.G D 2 1/ Holmes Zebedee 2/ B R Extreme excellent condition nice overall balance Good topline and we’ll set tail, good hindquarters. Pleasing head and expression. Movement today let him down. L D 3 (2) 1/ Hoggarth Whitebarn Tommy Brockley SHCM best dog and R.B.I.S Like him for size, nice overall balance, good topline, nice angulated and muscled hindquarters. Good bone tight feet. Head proportions OK alert expression. Presented in excellent condition and in the challenge showed his socks off standing and on the move. 2/ C Apache S of Kaleginy. Open D 3 (2) 1/ Maddock Salvenik Share the Wishing with Triella. Neck fitting correctly into body good shoulders placement, good bone feet tight. Correct topline set of tail and topline. Presented in excellent condition, and with his better front movement he could not be denied the class. 2/ Down Elessar Rainbow Rider. Pleased in head, Eyes, ears and expression. Good overall body balance, correct topline and set of tail. Presented in firm condition, could just move in a more relaxed mode, while he was fine in rear it did spoil front movement. I felt winner had better shoulder placement.

Vet B (2) 1/ Maddox Salvenik Star and a Prayer with Triella feminine head and expression. Liked her for balance and body condition. Moved nicely from all angles, and this ensured a class will. At ten years of age she is a credit to her owner. Best Vet in show. 2/ Hoggarth Kindrummond Sophie at Keltybrae eight year old presented in excellent condition. Liked her balance, good hindquarters, nice bone tight feet. Pleasing head alert expression, just preferred movement of winners. M.P. B 2 1/ Hunt Twin and Dipped in a Dream Over Huntspill. Most pleasing 8 mth baby of correct size. Loved her most feminine head good eyes and ears correctly set, all giving a very sweet expression. Overall body balance absolutely spot on. Shoulders, front, bone, feet and hindquarters excellent. Good topline tail correctly placed. Still needs to tighten both in front ad rear movement, and would like a tad more muscle tone which could well help her movement. B. Puppy I.Show. 2/ Stewart Blazerae Royal Legacy. While her body condition was firm she lacked maturity of winner, thus in body showing loads of daylight under body. Very happy puppy and loose in movement. P. B. 2 1/ Ditton Rhiffun Like a Song Very much a baby, with good body balance, but a shade high on rear. Pretty head good expression ample neck, good shoulders bone and feet, very much needs to settle in movement. 2/ B R. Legacy. Jun B 2 1/ Downside Wallfugh Xmas Eggnog for Elessar feminine in head and expression ample neck, not always shown to its best. Shoulders topline and set of tail. Well angulated hindquarters, well boned tight feet. Good rear movement with drive. 2/ Hoggarth Whitebarn Sea Nymph alert expression with good eye and ears, ample neck good body condition. Lacked the rear movement of winners. Y. B 4 (2) 1/ Down Elessar Designer Covers.very pretty feminine head good eye ear all giver super alert expression. on class on movement. Pleasing head giving nice expression with correct eye and ears. Ample neck good topline, and body balance, with tail set. Well places shoulders good bone and tight feet. Presented in firm condition. 2/ Hoggarth W6 Tabitha Twitching balance in head with good expression, correct for neck nice body outline from side. Good rear angulation, not quite the movement of winners. 3/ K S at Keltybrae Open B 4 (2) 1/ Maddox Ch Bentley Summer Rose with Salvenik In Nov last year I made her best in show at a dual breed club show and once again today she could not be denied the very top spot. What I wrote of her then applies today she’s a quality bitch put down in excellent condition. 2/ Barlow Highworth Vanity Fair For Pendrell 2 year old presented in nice firm condition and coat. So much to like about her but for me today she lacked that showmanship standing and on the move of the winner.
